Parcel freight and logistics service provider DX Group has expanded its 2-Man division with the opening of two ‘supersites’ in Middleton in the northwest of the UK and London Heathrow, taking the total number of supersites across the country to eight.
According to DX, it has one of the largest 2-Man home delivery networks in the industry. It has a main hub in Willenhall in the West Midlands and 19 dedicated depots, including the eight supersites. It’s 2-Man division specializes in delivering larger and heavier consumer goods to customers, including room of choice.
The 2-Man supersite network improves operational efficiencies, reduces stem mileage and carbon emissions and enhances customer service levels, according to Paul Ibbetson, chief executive officer of DX Group.
“We are delighted to have opened the two additional new DX 2-Man Supersites in Middleton and Heathrow. They will provide our 2-Man operations with greater capacity, further increase capability and get us closer to our customers’ customers in these areas. It also helps to make us more efficient and reduces our stem mileage, which in turn will lower our overall carbon emissions. We continue to focus on setting market-leading service standards,” Ibbetson said.
“We have invested significantly in our depot network over the past few years and will continue this program across the Group, including IT, vehicles and equipment.”
DX Group has opened several depots already this year, including Preston, Carlisle and East Grinsted. The company is also investing £12m (US$15.3m) in a new 25,000ft2 regional hub in the East Midlands of the UK.
