Peter Balfour, business developer of postal and vending at IER-Easier, showcases the company’s self-service retail kiosk.
IER-Easier’s kiosk touchscreen enables customers to quickly and efficiently weigh, ship and pay for parcels. According to Balfour, the solution is well-suited to parcel deposit boxes and shop counters. He expects the kiosk to reduce queues and stress in post offices and lessen the impact of industry labor shortages during peak times like Christmas and Black Friday.
The kiosk also features a privacy screen that prevents anyone at more than a 30° angle from reading its information. This is intended to support a biometric functionality in the future that could be applied to digital government services (like passport and driving license renewals), which could help drive traffic into local post offices.
