More than 160 new electric vehicles (EVs) are being deployed across Belgium and the Netherlands as part of UPS’s wider global electrification efforts. In recent months, UPS has also rolled out more than 600 EVs across Europe.
The custom-made Iveco eDaily P45E vehicles have a fully recyclable exterior, an operational range of up to 230km, a gearless electric drive and a polypropylene shell that is 30% lighter than a traditional aluminum shell.
With a cargo volume of 14m3, the EVs can carry up to 1,100kg. They have been designed to UPS’s unique specifications, seamlessly integrating into the company’s network for more sustainable delivery.
“As consumer expectations around sustainability continue to grow, we’re committed to giving our shipping customers more options and making them more sustainable than ever before,” said Michiel van Veen, managing director of UPS France and Benelux. “In today’s market, logistics can be a competitive advantage for businesses of all sizes, and we’re committed to providing the best experience focused on convenience, control and choice.”
The EV rollout is part of a series of UPS investments in the market. The company has a growing network of nearly 1,450 Access Point locations across Belgium and over 1,500 in the Netherlands. It recently launched a new surcharge-free Saturday delivery service, providing flexibility and convenience, especially during peak shipping periods.
