Romanian Post has purchased 15 electric vans for its Prioripost express courier service in a bid to reduce carbon emissions and the environmental impact of its operations.
The 15 Renault Kangoo ZE electric vans were purchased from SC Renault Commercial Roumanie SRL and will be used by the express services branch in Bucharest and will partially replace the post’s current vehicles that are older than 10 years. In addition to the vehicles, eight recharging stations with two 22kW sockets have been installed at the company’s headquarters in Bucharest.
The total investment is 2.27m lei (US$565,000) and is part of Romanian Post’s efforts to implement the European Commission’s European Green Pact, which emphasizes the efficient use of resources and the transition to a cleaner circular economy.
“The European Commission’s strategy regarding the European Green Pact focuses on companies with a high carbon footprint, which influences development policies, including the policies of Romanian Post,” said Horia Grigorescu, general manager of Romanian Post. “The purchased electric vans will contribute to the reduction of noxious emissions from postal courier activities in urban areas.”
