New Zealand Post has added its first fully electric vehicles to its Pace network.
Its Pace couriers offer a same-day urgent delivery service across New Zealand. Two Nissan e-NV200 vans have been deployed to help couriers deliver both efficiently and sustainably.
The vehicles complement a growing electric fleet at New Zealand Post, which is the largest company-owned collection in the country.
Hundreds of Paxsters four-wheeled battery powered scooters are also due to be rolled out soon. This, paired with the company’s low-carbon initiatives to increase driver fuel efficiency, route optimization, and aviation network changes, will help reduce the carbon footprint of every parcel delivered and therefore the environmental impact of both drivers and customers.
Vishal Kumar Sami, Pace contractor, commented, “For the last couple of weeks, I have been testing and learning how to get the most efficiency from the vans. You need to be more mindful of how you drive, especially when and where to charge as there aren’t many charging stations available yet.
“However, the effort pays off with massively reduced fuel costs and road user charges.”
