FridgeXpress has ordered 40 Iveco Daily 3.5-ton refrigerated vans from Guest Trucks to support its 680-strong flexible light commercial vehicles (LCV) rental fleet.
FridgeXpress opted for the long-wheelbase 4,100mm Daily van, which has a maximum payload of 840kg. Converted by Polar Truck & Van, each vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted GAH refrigeration unit, which can transform the van’s interior temperature between -20°C and +20°C to enable the transportation of both frozen and chilled food.
The van also includes thermal curtains across the rear and side door apertures and a blue grit finish floor. A Transcan temperature recorder and Hope Safe-T-Bar rear bumper complete the high level of specification. These are the first Ivecos to be added to the FridgeXpress rental fleet.
Craig Diaz, operations director of FridgeXpress, said, “The 840kg payload of this 4,100mm Daily van is very competitive for a converted 3.5-ton LCV of this size. Payload is important for a customer when delivering frozen food, and even in long wheelbase the Daily’s payload works for our customers. The Daily has received some good driver feedback. It’s comfortable and easy to drive while its 24,000-mile [38,624km] service intervals make it cost-effective to run from an operational perspective. We look forward to onboarding all 40 vans before Christmas,” he added.
