FedEx has added 10 new electric vehicles to its fleet in New Zealand, to improve its sustainable pickup and delivery operations within high-traffic areas in Auckland.
The 10 LDV eDeliver 9 vehicles feature zero tailpipe emissions and can cover 200km on a full charge. FedEx aims for all its parcel pickup and delivery vehicles to be zero tailpipe emissions models by 2040.
“Today marks an important moment in our operations in New Zealand,” said Stephen Williams, senior manager of operations at FedEx New Zealand. “By integrating EVs into our fleet, we are taking tangible steps to help reduce the impact of our operations on the environment while also steering the industry toward a more sustainable model of delivery and logistics.”
Beyond vehicle electrification, FedEx is focused on improving the efficiency of fleets, fuels and facilities across its integrated air-ground network. This includes initiatives like aircraft modernization, fuel-saving efforts and renewable-energy investments.
