Polish citizens and companies will now be able to send registered letters electronically thanks to a new e-delivery service from Poczta Polska and Bank Pocztowy.
Traditional paper correspondence will be replaced with the new electronic letters from October 2024, providing more convenience for citizens who will be able to send and receive electronic documents and get a proof of posting from anywhere with internet access.
Bank Pocztowy conducted tests using the API interface provided by Poczta Polska and over 250,000 people are already using the service. Electronic deliveries have the equivalent legal force as traditional registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt, according to Poczta Polska.
“We will soon witness the end of the era of paper letters,” said Dariusz Śpiewak, vice president of the management board of Poczta Polska. “We are observing how correspondence is changing at a dizzying pace from paper to electronic. Poczta Polska, as the leader of this market within the shared e-delivery digital platform, provides a public service of registered electronic delivery, which enables electronic communication between companies and individuals with public entities.
“Moreover, Poczta Polska, as the first in Poland, has also developed a qualified electronic registered delivery service, which guarantees legally effective delivery of correspondence electronically between non-public entities, i.e. between individuals or companies.”
Digital development
The growth of the e-Delivery service is expected to lead to a gradual reduction in the distribution of paper registered letters between the administration, citizens and companies.
Using unique Electronic Delivery Addresses (ADE), assigned by the government minister responsible for computerization, Bank Pocztowy can be sure that it is corresponding with the right person or institution. Additionally, e-delivery will enable customers to verify the status of their correspondence through evidence issued in real time, at every stage of the process, such as the date of posting and delivery confirmed with a qualified time stamp.
“The introduction of e-delivery may be a challenge for many companies, but it will certainly facilitate the distribution of correspondence to offices and companies. In fact, it will now be possible to do it fully online,” said Michał Leski, vice president of the management board of Bank Pocztowy.
“Bank Pocztowy is a modern institution that focuses on digital development. This is evidenced by our previous activities, such as the implementation of a biometric card or a CRM system in the cloud. Thanks to cooperation with Poczta Polska, we created an environment in which the bank conducted tests, confirming its readiness to handle the e-delivery process. I am convinced that the implementation of this solution will significantly facilitate communication between citizens and legal entities with offices and companies.”
