Baltic delivery firm Omniva has issued a tender for a solar panel installation for the roof of its new logistics center in Tallinn, Estonia. The 11,000m² (118,000ft²) installation will provide up to half of the hub’s daily power requirements.
Joona Saluveer, chairman of the management board of Omniva, said, “A significant criterion in designing and building the new logistics center was its sustainability and energy efficiency. We are pleased to announce that our new logistics center will largely operate on renewable energy.”
Interested contractors need to possess at least three years’ experience in the sale and installation of solar panel products and will have had involvement in completing projects on a similar scale.
The planned logistics center will cover approximately 13,000m² (140,000ft²) and will handle all parcels and letters sent to and from Estonia.
The construction of the new center entails the largest investment Omniva has ever made, with the cost of the sorting technology amounting to €17m (US$20m). Completion is scheduled for November 2018.
