S&P Global’s Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which assesses the environmental and social performance of companies, has named PostNL as the sixth most sustainable company in the world and the highest scoring e-commerce logistics company.
PostNL has been working for years to reduce its impact on the environment and climate, with investment in electric vehicles and cleaner fuels as well as smart route planning and sustainably sourced energy in its sorting centers. PostNL is also working with other parties to develop more sustainable business models, such as reusable packaging and goods reuse solutions as well as alternative delivery options such as automatic parcel machines and home parcel lockers to reduce delivery kilometers and stops.
PostNL CEO Herna Verhagen commented, “Sustainability is not a choice, it is our responsibility. This recognition as one of the most sustainable companies in the world is a milestone that is only possible thanks to the efforts of all our employees. By participating in these benchmarks, we are constantly raising the bar for ourselves and striving for continuous improvement. It is thus not only a recognition of our current performance, but also a motivation to take the next step. As a great company, we want to be a leader in this.”
