UK-based parcel delivery provider Yodel has appointed Andrew Peeler (left) as its new CEO. Peeler joined the organization as the chief financial officer in September 2017 but was promoted after former CEO, Mike Cooper, was unveiled as the new head of Eurostar.
Peeler has previously held several senior executive and board positions in Europe, Australia and the USA at international blue-chip companies including Unilever, Cadbury Schweppes, Premier Foods and Bupa.
He joined Yodel from the fastest growing Bupa unit in Australia and New Zealand, and prior to that was involved in the turnaround of one of Bupa’s largest businesses. Earlier in his career, he played a key role in a successful transformation acquisition for Cadbury Schweppes in the USA and the financial recovery of Premier Foods.
Dick Stead, executive chairman, said, “Over the past two years, Mike has put client and customer insight at the heart of Yodel. Under his leadership, Yodel has seen improved service levels and greater customer satisfaction, with the Institute of Customer Services’ UK Customer Satisfaction Index rating Yodel the second most improved company in 2017.
“I am very pleased to announce that Andrew has accepted the challenge and look forward to him driving the business forward. He has demonstrated rigor and focus and provided clear direction. He is passionate about investing in people to build a successful future and with his extensive experience, he is ideally placed to step up to the CEO role.”
Peeler added, “The last four months have been an exciting introduction to Yodel and the opportunities that lie ahead. I am delighted to take on the CEO role and particularly to work with such an experienced leadership team. We look forward to completing the business transformation and firmly establishing Yodel as the retailers’ carrier of choice.”
The announcement follows a successful Christmas peak for Yodel, which saw a 20% improvement in its TrustPilot rating and an average customer satisfaction score of 82% during its busiest period.
