The search is on for a new Postmaster General at the United States Postal Service (USPS) after Louis DeJoy resigned with immediate effect.
After five years in the role, DeJoy told the board of governors on March 24 that it would be his last day, following the selection of Egon Zehnder as the official search firm for the 76th Postmaster General and chief executive officer. DeJoy announced his initial decision to leave the post in February.
According to USPS, Egon Zehnder is one of the world’s preeminent executive search firms and it will work closely with the governors to identify, evaluate and select a forward-looking and effective leader to guide the postal service into its next chapter.
“The postal service plays an essential role in American life and, as we navigate a critical period of transformation and modernization, the governors of the postal service are committed to ensuring strong and visionary leadership for the organization,” said Amber McReynolds, chairwoman of the USPS board of governors. “We are confident that Egon Zehnder’s expertise will help us identify a leader who understands the postal service’s unique mandate and is prepared to advance our progress in service, innovation and long-term sustainability.”
Deputy Postmaster General Douglas A Tulino will serve as acting Postmaster General until a new leader is appointed, with no established timeline set for the search.
