The board of national postal operator Posten Norge (Norway Post) has appointed Tone Wille (left) as the new group CEO with effect from October 10, 2016.
Wille has been senior vice president/chief financial officer of Posten Norge with responsibility for accounts, finance, strategy and IT since September 2012. Now, she will be in charge of the entire group, with 18,000 employees and revenue of Nkr25bn (US$3bn).
Wille has been a member of Posten Norge’s group management for four years and director of finance and corporate governance in the mail division for six years. Before Wille’s appointment to Posten Norge, she was investment director at Norfund and senior vice president and chief financial officer of GE Energy (Norway) and of Kværner Energy. She has a master’s degree in economics and business administration.
Idar Kreutzer, chair of the board for Posten Norge, said, “The board is pleased to present Tone Wille as the new group CEO following a broad recruitment process in which we assessed skilled external and internal candidates. Wille has wide-ranging strategic and operational experience and an in-depth understanding of the challenges facing the group. She has actively contributed to important improvement processes and knows a great deal about how IT and digitalization can be used strategically to make the group more competitive. Wille is very involved in the important change processes that Posten Norge is in the middle of and she is a good relationship-builder at all levels.”
Wille said, “I really appreciate the confidence shown in me by the board and look forward to taking up the position. Posten Norge is facing new demanding reorganization processes in line with society’s increasing digitalization. I’m humble about taking over from Dag Mejdell, who has really made his mark as group CEO during a period of restructuring and industrial development for the group. However, I know the group’s activities well from the inside. Our skilled employees and considerable willingness and ability to further develop the group in the digital era mean we have a good foundation for future success in the market.”
Mejdell resigned as CEO of the group in April 2016 after almost 11 years at the helm of Posten Norge. He will now spend his time helping to develop Norwegian and international companies.
