Since April 2024, Finnish postal operator Posti has been in discussions with employees working in the transportation and terminal operations about restructuring plans, with a total of 295 estimated redundancies.
Now complete, Posti has announced that it has significantly reduced the number of layoffs required to streamline and reorganize its operations to 153 staff.
Commenting on the outcome of the discussions, Ari Olli, responsible for corporate and delivery services in Posti’s e-commerce and delivery services business group, said, “The spirit of the change negotiations was constructive. Together with employee representatives, we found a variety of voluntary ways to [help] the employees involved in the negotiations. We will continue to support our employees during the change.
“We will provide re-employment support for those in the scope of the redundancies, for example, in the form of re-employment coaching.”
The rationale behind the change negotiations is the need for a comprehensive renewal of the transportation network to ensure a flexible and more efficient network. According to Posti, a flexible production structure is essential if it is to operate efficiently.
