E-commerce delivery technology company MetaPack has named John Clem as general manager of MetaPack and chief product and strategy officer at Stamps.com.
Clem will be responsible for steering the business following the company’s acquisition by Stamps.com in July, a provider of postage online and shipping software solutions.
The new appointee has been on the senior management team at Stamps.com for 15 years and prior to his most recent role – which he took up in 2012 – he was vice president, product and service operations, for six years. He has also served as director of corporate strategy and as a director of marketing, where he led the launch of Stamps.com’s package insurance and PhotoStamps products.
Clem, who is moving from the company’s California headquarters to be based at MetaPack’s offices in London in the UK, will take over the responsibilities of Steve Rowley, formerly executive chairman at MetaPack, who is now leaving the company.
Ken McBride, chairman and CEO at Stamps.com, said, “John has been a very important element in the growth of Stamps.com, not least because of his deep understanding of e-commerce delivery. He has designed many of our new shipping features over the last five years, and they have been instrumental in Stamps.com’s success in the US market.
“We now fully expect John to bring that expertise to his management of MetaPack, working together with founder Patrick Wall and with the executive team to fulfil our ambitious plans for the future.”
