Parcel delivery provider Hermes UK has launched a Degree Apprentice Program that enables students to earn while they learn, get a degree and leave college with virtually no debt. In addition, they are guaranteed a job with the company when they have successfully completed their degree course.
The four-year program is being run in association with Leeds Beckett University, and this year six students will participate in the scheme. They will each take a job with Hermes and will be given time off for lectures and study. All tuition fees will be paid by Hermes and students will also receive a competitive salary, as well as invaluable work experience.
Two of the students will be joining the IT department while studying for a degree in digital and technology solutions while the others, all studying for a chartered management degree, will take roles throughout the business at its contact center, the Warrington hub and with the ParcelShops team. Dedicated mentors will work closely with the students to help them maximize their work and study time.
Jill Maples, HR director at Hermes UK, said, “This program is designed to bring talented young people both into our business and the industry as a whole. It is a fantastic opportunity for them and for us and is just one of a number of initiatives we are implementing to grow our ‘Parcel People’ at all levels.”
