General Logistics Systems (GLS) has appointed Ivan Hofmann as CEO of the US division with immediate effect.
Hofmann is a veteran of the transportation industry with 35 years of experience, having held various management positions in both sales and operations. He began his professional career after graduating from Ohio University in 1970. In 1985, he joined Roadway Package Systems (RPS), now FedEx Ground, as vice president of operations, later becoming president and CEO. After the acquisition by FedEx, he was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of FedEx Ground.
In 2004, he co-founded transportation consulting firm ETC & Associates. He also serves on several boards, primarily for transportation related companies. In his role, Hofmann will report to Royal Mail CEO Rico Back.
“We are very pleased to be able to appoint Ivan to this position, as his experience will help us to scale up and further strengthen our US business,” said Back. “Ivan will also support the GLS Group in expanding its business activities in the USA.”
Commenting on his appointment, Hofmann said, “I am looking forward to building and expanding GLS’s presence in the USA within the strategy of a careful and focused geographic expansion. At the same time, I will oversee the integration of GSO and Postal Express which were acquired in October 2016 and April 2017 respectively.”
