The DPD Supervisory Board has appointed interim CEO Björn Scheel as the official CEO of DPD Germany with immediate effect.
Scheel (above) served as CEO on an interim basis since January 1, 2023. Before that, he had been chief operating officer for DPD Germany since March 1, 2021. Scheel has experience in the international logistics and aviation sectors and has led several large companies. Among other roles, he worked for almost 10 years at LSG Group, a Lufthansa Group company. Together with his management team, he will continue to drive forward DPD Germany in all its business operations and set the company’s course for the future.
Günter Pfaff will become the new COO. Pfaff has worked for DPD since 1998 and has been responsible for operations management on a regional basis since 2018, before becoming director field operations in January 2021. Justin Pegg, COO of DPD UK, has been elected new chairman of the supervisory board of DPD Deutschland, effective July 1, 2023. Pegg succeeds Eric Dietz who remains a supervisory board member.
Eric Dietz, executive vice president, Geopost, said, “Björn was able to take over the reins during the last peak period with dedication, in a global context of economic tension and in a high competition market. DPD Germany is an important part of our European network. I wish every success to Björn and the German team in their endeavors, and I will assure them of the best possible support from the Geopost teams. Together with Bjorn’s appointment as CEO, Günther Pfaff is appointed COO, and I am confident that we have the best team in place to drive the success of DPD Germany.”
