Global e-commerce technology provider Doddle has announced it has appointed Bob Black as deputy chairman owing to his extensive experience in the cross border e-commerce, supply chain and logistics sector. Black takes up the role with immediate effect with a remit to support the business as it continues its growth strategy, powering out-of-home delivery and returns for carriers and retailers. This will include developing new products and solutions.
Black has over 35 years’ experience in the retail and logistics sectors in the UK, Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. He has held a number of senior roles at TNT including managing director Benelux, managing director Australia/NZ & Pacific Islands and chief operating officer UK & Ireland.
Prior to joining Doddle, he spent six years at Australia Post where he was group chief operating officer, responsible for Australia Post’s Parcels, Letters and International business. During his time there, Australia Post partnered with Doddle to launch a comprehensive network of pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) locations to support online shopping.
Commenting on his appointment, Black said, “I am excited to continue my involvement with Doddle – this time as part of the team. The work that we did together at Australia Post was a game changer and helped make the online shopping experience seamless, giving customers the flexibility they wanted with the ability to collect and return parcels when and where it suits them. I intend to help other organizations and their customers across the globe reap similar benefits.”
Tim Robinson, CEO at Doddle, commented, “Bob’s experience and knowledge of the retail and logistics sectors are unrivalled and he also brings with him a unique perspective having previously been on the customer side. He understands the pain points a retailer goes through and this will help to drive our product development roadmap. Having the best people on board is key to our continued success and Bob is a great asset to the team.”
