Belgian delivery company bpost group has completed its leadership changes and created a group executive committee – hiring a chief financial officer and two chief human resource officers (CHRO).
Philippe Dartienne has been named chief financial officer and will begin his role on June 1, 2022. The company expects him to support the transformation of the group and help reduce costs to a level in line with the sector benchmarks.
bpost’s new CFO has spent most of his career at various companies and partners of the waste management service Suez, where he was chief financial officer of water technologies and solutions, deputy director of financial control and long-term planning, chief financial officer and operational manager.
The group’s current CHRO, Mark Michiels, will retire at the end of 2022. As of January 1, 2023, his function will be split into a group CHRO and a Belgium CHRO. Anette Böhm will take over from Michiels as the group CHRO on June 1, 2022, and will sit on the group executive committee together with Michiels.
Böhm was senior general manager of human resources at the merged Belgian bank and insurance company Kredietbank and CERA Bank (KBC) Bank and Insurance since September 2013. Before that, she worked as a senior general manager of group human resources at HR technology group SD Worx, where she managed divisions in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Alongside Böhm, bpost has hired Dieter De Waegeneer to lead the HR strategy of bpost Belgium. De Waegeneer will join bpost on April 1, 2022, to handle industrial relations and support the group CHRO. This role was created to transform bpost into a sustainable partner for e-commerce logistics in Belgium. De Waegeneer will report to Jean Muls, the CEO of bpost Belgium.
De Waegeneer was the executive vice president of operations at the Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize Belgium and Luxembourg from October 2007 until February 2022 and has also held several HR roles. In 2018, he joined the supermarket’s executive committee as senior vice president of people, organization and sustainability and in November 2018 took on the role of executive vice president of operations, overseeing the retail and supply chain.
Dirk Tirez, the CEO of bpost group, said, “I am delighted: the new team will be complete within a few months. Together we will work to transform a postal operator into a full e-commerce logistics partner, build and strengthen the network in Europe and Asia, and drive significant growth in the United States. I am convinced that, with this team, we will be able to rise to the major challenges we face and achieve our growth ambitions.”
