Italian parcel sorting solutions supplier OCM is nearing completion of its M30M installation project with Dutch-based postal operator TNT.
The M30M project began in 2014 with the target of installing automated parcel sorting systems at 30 TNT hubs and depots across Italy.
The installed sorting systems include OCM’s Wheel Sorter technology, capable of sorting up to 9,000 parcels per hour; the Fast Sorter, capable of processing 10,000 parcels per hour; and OCM’s Parcel Light Tracking (PLT) system, which features alphanumeric displays on the conveyor allowing operators to easily recognize which parcels need to be unloaded.
The PLT system also ensures full traceability. Additionally, OCM supplied TNT with 11 Parcel Coders for accurate measurement of the weight and volume of parcels.
OCM will finalize three installations in the Italian cities of Trieste, La Spezia and Salerno before the end of the year, and will complete the project’s final installation in TNT’s Aprilia depot at the beginning of 2016.
Antonio Amadasi, CEO of OCM, said, “The systems supplied to TNT enhances each depot’s efficiency and reliability, increasing productivity and guaranteeing a better service to the customers. They are cost cutting solutions that provide an immediate return on investment.”
Stefania Pezzetti, operations director, TNT Express Italy, said, “The partnership between TNT and OCM is a win-win business story, each with skills and experiences that benefit each other. OCM’s solutions upgrade our depots and support our business, leading to increased operating efficiency and a better service for our customers.”
