Royal Mail is introducing a selection of ‘singing’ postboxes across the UK ahead of the festive season, which serenade the user once a letter or card is posted.
The singing postboxes – a first for the company – are adorned with beautifully seasonal snowflakes, and respond to post with one of three festive-themed ditties ranging from the sound of sleigh bells to a jolly season’s greeting from Santa Claus.
The boxes are located in the four busy hotspots of Greenwich in London, Cardiff (Wales), Edinburgh (Scotland) and Belfast (Northern Ireland), and will be in place for the entire festive season.
Simon Barker, operations director at Royal Mail, said, “Delivering Christmas is our absolute priority this December. In the process, we enjoy any way we can add a little extra fun and festivity to posting Christmas cards this year.”
