Nordic postal and logistics operator Posten Bring has opened its second largest logistics terminal in Borgeskogen, Stokke, in Norway that has more than doubled its parcel handling capabilities.
The new 16,000m2 logistics center will be a hub for all mail, parcels and goods in the region, enabling Posten Bring to provide more efficient distribution to its customers.
“We have doubled the area from 8,000m2 to 16,000m2 and implemented new technical solutions that allow us to handle more than twice as many parcels in one hour compared to before. We’re also using technology that we’ve never used before in Norway, so we’re streamlining and simplifying the work of our employees,” explained Tone Wille, CEO of Posten Bring.
Sustainable facility
The new facility is BREEAM-certified and has 2,220 solar panels on the roof, making the terminal self-sufficient in renewable energy for much of the year. It also includes a charging facility, making it an important hub in Posten Bring’s national charging infrastructure and will be important for phasing out fossil fuel vehicles driving north and south from Vestfold.
In addition, the group has built its first longer corridor between Oslo-Stokke-Oslo where heavy vehicles running only on renewable energy are used.
“Vestfold is also home to some of the country’s largest online retailers, and they expect us as a carrier to deliver their parcels with the lowest possible emissions. The measures we have implemented and will implement will ensure that we are the best in the country at precisely this,” said Wille.
Around 250 employees will be working at the logistics center, which will handle letters, parcels and goods from Vestfold and Telemark.
