Parcel delivery provider DPD Germany has added a number of central functions to its DPD Parcel Navigator application, making it an efficient all-round platform for receiving, returning and now sending parcels.
Michael Knaupe, director customer experience and communications at DPD Germany, said, “These new and extended functions focus specifically on private customers and their personal wishes not only as consignees but now also as parcel shippers.
“For consignees we have significantly expanded the possibilities for personalizing and individualizing our digital services. This represents a major enhancement to DPD’s already highly popular services for consignees. The new options include specifying a favorite parcel shop as a delivery preference, in addition to providing general authorization to deposit parcels in a specific location or in a parcel box, using the ParcelLock system.
“These are options which can be deactivated at any time if required, and which are aimed in particular at those whose work regularly keeps them away from home for most of the day. Further options enabling customers to specify their standard delivery profiles will be added in future.”
Users of the app, which comes in a completely new design, are able to undertake the full digital processing of their own parcel shipping operations, including payment, meaning that it is no longer necessary to print out labels and stick them on the parcels.
Even without registration, consignors can create a mobile, encoded parcel label which can be saved in apps such as the Wallet (iOS) or PassWallet (Android). The transport charge can conveniently be paid by PayPal or direct debit before the parcel is dropped off for dispatch at one of DPD’s 6,000 Pickup parcel shops.
The DPD Express shipping option can also be booked using the app, while users in 19 German cities can even take advantage of same-day delivery. The option of printing out a PDF parcel label is also still available.
