Czech Post and DPD Czech Republic are now offering more choice for parcel delivery and collection with a new partnership, enabling DPD customers to choose from 56 Czech Post branches for parcel pickup. The service will be expanded to more than 850 branches by the end of the year.
The two companies will trial the collaborative service until the middle of next year and if successful, will extend it to Czech Post’s entire network of almost 3,000 branches.
“There are 2,900 branches available for our clients throughout the Czech Republic. Due to the declining interest in traditional postal services, we are ready to offer our free capacities to other companies or state institutions. The branch network in which we have integrated DPD is another option where customers of our new business partner can pick up their parcels. Especially in the pre-Christmas period, which is the peak of the season for every logistics company, every additional pickup point is welcome,” said Martina Ivanová, director of the Czech Post branch network.
Miloš Malaník, CEO of DPD Czech Republic, added, “Cooperation between DPD and the Czech Post might have seemed unimaginable in the past, but at the present moment it really makes sense to us. Parcelshops are the second most popular type of delivery used by Czechs when shopping online, after home delivery. In addition, not everywhere makes sense to use self-service lockers, which have been so popular lately.
“Thanks to the combination of our services, the DPD Pickup network will increase significantly, even in smaller towns and villages, where Pickup points will be significantly more accessible even before the Christmas season, even in locations where lockers are not available.”
In the Czech Republic, DPD already operates over 6,000 Pickup points and self-service lockers, which are part of the pan-European network of Geopost.
