UK delivery management company Whistl has taken leases on 450,000ft2 of warehouse space in Northamptonshire to meet what it sees as growing demand for its Fulfilment and Contact Centers.
It will utilize 300,000ft2 of space at Belkin House, Express Business Park, expanding its existing Rushden fulfilment capability, and is also opening its fifth Fulfilment center, located in Northampton.
The company notes that the latter site, at Moulton Park Industrial Estate, Northampton, was chosen because of its ‘Golden Triangle’ location, the biggest concentration of major logistics and distribution operations in Europe. It has good access to the M1, M40, M6 and M40 motorways, putting 90% of the population of England and Wales in reach within four hours, enabling Whistl to potentially offer online retailers a later cut-off time for their customer’s orders for next day delivery.
The 155,000ft2 purpose-built depot will be fitted out to enable pick-and-pack of customer orders, while the site has parking for 27 HGVs, 15 dock doors and three level access points.
Alongside its expanding pick-and-pack and returns warehouse capability, the company has also expanded into contact centers and providing warehouse and carrier management systems that can be easily integrated with or plugged into retailers’ existing IT or order management systems.
