The UPS Foundation has provided a US$25,000 grant to non-profit organization Techo Chile, which will be used to help build homes for the victims of forest fires that recently affected the south-center forest zone in Chile.
Jose Maria (Chema) Odriozola, president of operations for UPS Latin America, said, “UPS is committed to assisting the communities in which our employees live and work. We appreciate the opportunity to be able to collaborate with Techo Chile to help the people most affected by the forest fires in Chile.”
Created in 1997, Techo Chile is a private organization with the mission to provide support to local communities in Chile and overcome poverty in the country by building emergency housing for displaced people.
Gonzalo Rodríguez, social director of the organization, commented, “We are grateful for the contribution made by The UPS Foundation, which will support families affected by this tragedy. This donation will also serve as an incentive for the permanent volunteers that work collaboratively at Techo Chile.”
The donation is part of The UPS Foundation’s commitment to support organizations that benefit vulnerable and underprivileged people with programs that provide long-term solutions.
