Postal operator TNT has signed a five-year business process outsourcing (BPO) contract with Accenture as part of its drive to focus on core express delivery activities, reduce indirect costs, and improve operational efficiencies.
The contract will see Accenture manage transactional activities related to finance and accounting, procurement and data entry for TNT. This will allow the company to consolidate and standardize back-office operations carried out in-house.
The contract with Accenture is an important step in establishing part of TNT’s Outlook strategy, a plan set out in 2014 to further improve the business’s performance and to meet the needs of stakeholders.
Maarten de Vries, chief financial officer, TNT, said, “Accenture’s BPO services will allow TNT to focus on what we do best: delivering our customers’ express parcels and pallets, while enhancing our cost-efficiency and flexibility.”
The transition of services to Accenture will take place in stages between 2015 and the end of 2017. TNT is planning to discuss the planned scope and timing, as well as social accompaniment measures, with local works councils and employee representatives before implementation.
