Romanian Post has announced total revenues of RON391m (US$97.3m) for the first four months of 2015, leading to a net profit of RON18.7m (US$4.6m), an increase of 3.1% against the same period in 2014.
The announcement reinforces a positive turn in fortunes for the Romanian postal operator amid a net profit of RON22.8m (US$5.7m) at the end of 2014. The profits will help to offset some of the losses incurred by the post over the last five years.
Alexandru Petrescu, Romanian Post CEO, said, “Keeping the revenues from our traditional postal services steady is still a challenge, but entering the competition of big and strategic projects proved to be a profitable decision.
“Thereby, while the revenues from mail services or product selling are continuing to shrink, signing contracts with operators from the money transfers’ segment or for delivering the national health card brought important gains. At this stage, we wish to intensify the commercial liaisons with big names on the Romanian retail and banking market, and to boost our market share on the segment of e-commerce and insurance services.”
