JD has expanded its network with three logistics parks in eastern China to speed up deliveries in time for the 618 sales event.
The three new logistics parks are located in Langfang, Hebei province; Dezhou, Shandong province; and Zhengzhou, Henan province, increasing JD’s coverage for same- or next-day deliveries.
JD will utilize smart scheduling and forecasting to manage routes and operations. Al-based reservation technology for bulky items will improve efficiency for bulk orders.
JD Logistics said, “By leveraging big data forecasting for popular products, we are able to put the products closest to customers, so that customers can receive their parcels as fast, as in several minutes from when they placed the orders.”
JD Service + will provide integrated services for home appliances, electronic product repair and aftersales, with JD adding more personnel for the 618 sales event on June 18.
Supply chain services have been tailored for industry partners, which JD says is a welcome move as the number of merchants using the service has doubled year-on-year.
