bpost has begun the relocation of its staff to a new 5,000m2 state-of-the-art distribution center in Evere, Belgium, which will enable the postal operator to better handle growing parcel volumes.
The first staff from the Schaerbeek site have been relocated to the new center, with staff from Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre joining them in May. In total, more than 200 employees will be moved to Evere, conducting 112 mail rounds and serving the residents of the municipalities of Schaerbeek, Etterbeek, Haren and Evere.
The company says that the new facility is a fully fledged distribution center with state-of-the-art workstations harnessing cutting-edge technology. It also includes a spacious covered area where employees can safely and efficiently load and unload their vehicles while sheltered from the weather.
Evere distribution center manager Ali Koutchi said, “This is not only a more modern facility that is ready for growth. It is also one that is very easy to access, not least with public transport, both day and night.”
According to bpost, sustainability was prioritized in the development phase with photovoltaic panels installed to meet the site’s energy needs. The energy-efficient facility is also equipped with sustainable LED lighting and an extensive rainwater harvesting system.
