PostNL is continuing its parcel and letter machine trial in Limburg, the Netherlands, following positive feedback from its urban-located machines.
The machine contains a letterbox with two openings, and parcel lockers in various sizes. The parcel and letter machine can be used 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and users receive a unique code via SMS or email to open the parcel and letter machine and retrieve or return a parcel.
PostNL will use the new trials to study whether the machines also meet consumer needs in rural areas. The feedback allows the company to adapt to the needs of consumers who are sending and receiving more and more parcels in the area.
The trials began in November 2016, and the announcement of a wider trial puts six more machines to the test in rural areas around Limburg.
