Irish independent postal operator CityPOST has launched a new business postal service called PostPICK-UP, which undercuts the costs associated with using the current universal provider An Post by up to 21%.
In March 2017, An Post announced that the standard domestic letter rate for items up to 100g within Ireland would increase from 0.72 (US$0.77) to 1.00 (US$1.07). CityPOST is offering free postal collection from businesses and delivery to anywhere in Ireland, or in 200 countries around the world for a rate of 0.79 (US$0.85) per letter.
Mail sent using CityPOST’s PostPICK-UP will be individually barcoded and can be tracked, from collection to delivery. Mail is scanned on collection, at sorting and on delivery by the CityPOST team.
Ian Glass (above), CEO of CityPOST, said, “CityPOST is delighted to launch our flagship product for businesses, PostPICK-UP. It is clear that post still has an important role to play for businesses. It is also clear that Irish businesses want to pay less for their postal service. CityPOST is delighted to deliver a choice that has been missing from the Irish postal market.
“We believe that there is a real opportunity to grow the postal market in Ireland, but this is only possible through innovation and developing new products, like PostPICK-UP, Hybrid mail and new price points. CityPOST’s strategy is to innovate, to disrupt, but also to partner with other providers, with the goal of creating a better system. Competition is good for postal services and customers and ultimately drives postal volumes.”
PostPICK-UP is the latest CityPOST service to be launched for Irish businesses. In January 2017, the independent provider launched iPOST, a hybrid mail, one-stop solution, providing free letterheads, free printing and free envelopes; and then processing, packing and posting a letter for just 0.89 (US$0.95) less than the price of a stamp.
