FedEx Express has opened an expanded, modernized facility in Karlsruhe, Germany, that will help FedEx handle increasing parcel volumes.
The 3,600m2 site includes a 2,500m2 warehouse, truck loading ramp and 24 loading bays. The sorting process in the warehouse is largely automated compared to the previous set-up, which will reduce the sorting time by around a third and almost double the sorting capacity. The height-adjustable and extendable conveyor belt also facilitates the handling of consignments. Three new jobs were created as part of the expansion, meaning 20 team members now work at the site.
“The facility in Karlsruhe offers our customers an even better service experience thanks to a modern infrastructure and optimized processes,” said Stefan Dries, vice president, ground operations – Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Nordics, FedEx Express. “We look forward to supporting our customers in expanding their business.”
