The product and manufacturing IT company Omnic has created a parcel locker network for a pilot project by the Ukrainian national post.
The service was launched on September 20 in Ukrposhta offices and is available for the Ukrposhta users that are invited via SMS invitations. Users operate the locker by tapping the “collect” button and entering the SMS code to access their parcel.
The project was prepared and rolled out in approximately three months. All the equipment was produced in Omnic’s own manufacturing facilities in Ukraine, at the Omnic plant in Bila Tserkva.
The company has already launched parcel locker networks for B2B-clients such as Nova Poshta, Meest Express and Fozzy Group (Justin), as well as Ukrainian online retailer Rozetka. Omnic’s global portfolio also includes retailer IKEA, and national postal services Hungarian Post, Armenian Post and Russian Post.
Igor Smelyansky, Ukrposhta CEO, said, “Ukrposhta is going through a massive upgrade and we are trying to make our services extremely easy and accessible for all of our users. That’s why it is time for us to test a new model of parcel delivery – the parcel locker network. If this pilot is a success, we are going to scale it nationwide, starting with big cities. We’ll link it up with our mobile app, user accounts and so on.”
