Residents of Leuven now have access to more parcel lockers that ever before with the installation of Belgium’s largest parcel locker at the Philipssite.
Measuring 11m long and comprising 184 compartments for parcel pickup or drop-off, the giant parcel locker has 23 individual modules and took six hours to install.
Chris Peeters, CEO of bpost, commented, “Parcel lockers, like this one in Leuven, are an important aspect of the ambition of bpost to be closer than ever. Whether you’re working from home or not, you can pick up your parcel from a parcel locker whenever it suits you and you can return it just as easily. It’s also the most environmentally friendly way to send and receive parcels. This way, we all contribute to reducing our ecological footprint.”
Network expansion
Since it first installed parcel lockers in Belgium back in 2011, bpost has steadily grown its network, with 1,116 parcel lockers now installed across the country. Over 47,000 parcels can be processed simultaneously through the bpost parcel lockers.
Now, almost every inhabitant of Belgium can reach a pickup point by bike or car in less than six minutes, according to the post.
