Industrial automation company Arka has opened a €2m (US$2m) smart locker factory in Romania.
Arka’s lockers are automatic boxes, designed to be available 24/7 for pickup and delivery. This solution is expected to increase the sustainability of the parcel industry, and the factory is additionally expected to generate approximately 50 new jobs in Brașov city in Romania.
At the opening event, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by a tour of the factory. This tour was led by Lucian Ulmanu, CEO of Arka, who described each step of the production of smart lockers. Ulmanu delivered an informative speech and thanked each person involved in the project. The opening event was attended by Romanian courier FAN Courier as well as adjacent industry companies, including IT company Stefanini and Arka’s other partners.
Arka will be exhibiting at Parcel+Post Expo in Frankfurt, Germany. To see more of the products on show, click here.
