PostTag, an address lookup and validation service, is launching a new no-contract service called PostTag OnTap. The service aims to provide real-time address validation for companies who may be mid-contract with another address lookup provider, yet facing an unacceptably high rate of ‘can’t find’ failures. Customers only pay PostTag per correct address found when a problem arises.
PostTag says that its analysis reveals that nearly 60% of all UK addresses, as shown on current mapping systems, are typically about a football pitch away from the actual address location. Furthermore, the issues of inaccurate customer input and systems not being updated to reflect postcode changes mean the problem is not a small one. For logistics companies under pressure to get things right the first time, wrong address data can hit the bottom line.
PostTag OnTap is powered by the company’s address validation and location system. If a current address provider serves a bad address, PostTag claims the system can quickly fix the problem, checking, validating and verifying addresses across multiple databases before telling the driver precisely where the home or business is. According to the company, its Destination Data Engine is processing over 3,000 address validations every minute, returning precise longitude and latitude details for each one.
Keith Lewin, chairman and founder of Post Tag, commented, “Talking to a lot of courier and logistics companies, I found that most address lookup providers were returning a far higher rate of address failures than people realized. One large potential customer told me that they had as many as 30,000 a day. Just because companies are trapped mid-contract with one of them, I thought there was no reason they should not benefit from the accuracy and precision of PostTag. We created PostTag OnTap to catch the balls the other lookup providers drop, with no contract, and customers will only pay for the addresses we find for them.
“Last-mile delivery is recognized as the most expensive logistics leg, accounting for over 50% of costs, so it’s vital companies get it right. With PostTag OnTap we look forward to demonstrating our platform to even more customers, without binding them into a long-term contract.”
