Lithuania Post has introduced SMS and email alerts to inform customers when a parcel is ready for collection from a local post office following a failed delivery attempt.
Mikas Jovaias, head of business development at Lithuania Post, said, “Electronic means of communication have become inseparable from our daily activities.
“This service is free of charge and can be chosen by customers that would like the consignee of their sent item to be informed electronically rather than with a paper notice that is left in their mailbox.
“The usual paper notices will continue to be delivered to consignees unless their contact details have been indicated on the registered items sent to them.”
