Smart data capture company Scandit is presenting its scan and count solution MatrixScan Count at Parcel+Post Expo in Frankfurt, Germany.
The new solution was launched on October 5, 2022, and is available on iOS and some Android devices. MatrixScan Count leverages MatrixScan technology to locate, track and decode multiple barcodes simultaneously.
The solution has been designed to provide stable, long-range performance for capturing as many items in one shot as possible at once, particularly important where large items are included. Offered as an out-of-box solution, the built-in user interface in MatrixScan Count has been included to reduce development time at installation.
Workers using MatrixScan Count receive real-time on-screen alerts via augmented reality, guiding them to complete counting workflows precisely and avoiding incorrect products, double-counting or accidentally skipping items. Preset user interfaces mean that customizations including left-handed mode, strap mode and landscape scanning mode are provided depending on user preference.
The solution is intended to increase worker productivity, reduce human error and maintain accurate stock levels. By shifting tedious, repetitive tasks from frontline workers to technology, errors in stock management or goods delivery can be eliminated while people are freed up to engage in value-add activities. In turn, this is expected to help retail and logistics enterprises maintain customer service levels and ensure accurate supply chain visibility in the face of economic pressures.
At its booth, Scandit pointed out that the solution can be applied to stock taking and inventory counting, warehouses and back-of-store operations and van loading and unloading parcel verification and counting.
Christian Floerkemeier, chief technology officer and co-founder of Scandit, said, “Counting accurately is a critical part of many business workflows for multiple industries, but tedious, multistep or manual processes still prevail. Enterprises are struggling to recruit and retain staff, so by introducing tools such as MatrixScan Count which reimagine processes to super-speed through tedious tasks, workers can engage in high-value assignments leading to an enhanced experience.”
