Estonian logistics company Omniva has partnered with delivery company Asyad Express and its subsidiary Oman Post, which are both based in Muscat in Oman.
This partnership is intended to enable Oman Post and Asyad Express to promote e-commerce in Oman and Gulf Cooperation Council (GGC) regions. As part of the agreement, Omniva will also support Asyad Express in the e-parcel locker operating model and assist in setting up the first domestic pickup/drop-off (PUDO) network across Oman. The first phase of the partnership is expected to begin by June 2022. The agreement with Omniva is also intended to bring European opportunities to Asyad Express.
Mart Mägi, CEO of Omniva, said, “This strategic partnership opens up the Middle East region for Omniva’s existing customer base. Muscat will become one of the hubs of Omniva alongside London, Amsterdam, Hachenburg, Kaunas, Tallinn, Helsinki, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. At the same time, it opens up for all of Oman Post’s and Asyad Express’s existing and future Middle Eastern clients the full Omniva network with particular focus in Europe, the Caucasus and central Asia.”
Nasser Al Sharji, CEO of Asyad Express, said, “Our aim is to tap into a global pool of more than two billion potential customers, explore opportunities to promote our business with African and Asian markets through Oman Post and Asyad Express, and grow e-commerce, last-mile delivery and e-fulfillment warehousing solutions.”
Jason Ashbrook, general manager of commercial at Oman Post and Asyad Express, said, “This agreement helps us expand our e-commerce logistics network across the region and opens up new prospects for the company in key European markets. It will serve to fast-track business growth, unlocking significant e-commerce and last-mile business opportunities over the next two to three years.”
Ashbrook added, “This new collaboration demonstrates our desire to make significant headway with our e-commerce and last-mile courier development, as we will work in collaboration with Omniva to provide innovative postal and express logistics solutions that will connect the Middle Eastern and European retailers through the Oman Post and Asyad Express network.”
