DHL eCommerce UK has opened a new 5,100m2 site in Newcastle in the UK that will increase its e-commerce handling capacity and help meet customer demand across the northeast.
The site will handle up to 15,000 parcels a day and has been designed to align with DHL’s Go Green strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Features include heating and lighting sensors to reduce energy use and 10 EV charging points, which will also support efforts to reduce carbon emissions from deliveries.
The Newcastle site is part of DHL eCommerce UK’s wider £482m (US$623m) investment into its UK infrastructure and follows the opening of a new hub in Coventry in February.
Stuart Hill, UK CEO, DHL eCommerce UK, commented, “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new site in Newcastle. This latest development follows the opening of our state-of-the-art Coventry Hub and further underscores our commitment to expanding our UK investments.
“By sustainably growing our operations, we are boosting our capacity to meet the growing demands of customers, enhancing the working environment for our valued team members and upholding our commitment to provide excellent service for customers, both locally and internationally.”
