Delivery driver Sarwan Singh has reached the unprecedented landmark of 40 years of service with UK carrier Yodel. To celebrate his achievement, Singh was presented with £1,000 (US$1,226) in Very.co.uk shopping vouchers by his fellow colleagues.
Singh first joined the business in 1982 as a delivery driver for the Leamington Spa depot, where he delivered parcels to homes across Oxfordshire. He has received excellent customer feedback throughout his career and now regularly provides training to new drivers.
Singh also recently won an Institute of Couriers’ National Courier Award for delivering over a million parcels. The National Courier Awards are operated by the Institute of Couriers to commemorate the best businesses and people across the industry, with corporate and individual awards for the most dedicated service.
Warren Fletcher, depot manager at Yodel, said, “Sarwan is a highly valued member of the team at Leamington who is popular with colleagues and customers alike. He always makes time to support others and takes pride in ensuring everything is done to the highest standard. We are really proud of his incredible achievements over an impressive 40-year career.”
Singh said, “My colleagues and I have always worked together to do the best job possible, and I have enjoyed how the job has developed over my 40 years here. I am always meeting new people with interesting stories and no one day is ever the same. I’ve made life-long friends while being here, who I will always keep in contact with.”
