PostNL has announced that from March 2024, its automated parcel locker network will also be available for GLS Netherlands customers.
By opening the automated parcel lockers up to other carriers, PostNL and GLS Netherlands are responding to consumer demand for even easier parcel collection at a time and location of their choice.
Milo Kars, managing director of GLS Netherlands, explained, “GLS Netherlands is always looking for ways to improve its services, such as expanding its network with automated parcel lockers. Because PostNL makes its automated parcel lockers available to us, we can quickly take a good step forward.”
GLS Netherlands will be able to deliver consumers’ parcels to one of almost 1,000 PostNL automated parcel lockers, which are located through the Netherlands. Most of the lockers are available 24/7.
Barry Husman, director retail Benelux at PostNL, commented, “We believe that an open model offers consumers a smart solution, and also that it is more sustainable and economical than each carrier building its own network. So, we continuously work on digital services and continue to innovate in sustainable logistics solutions. With the collaboration and the opening to GLS Netherlands, we are connecting even more consumers to our network.”
PostNL plans to expand its parcel locker network further this year and connect more carriers to the network in the future.
