Norwegian post Posten Norge launched 50 serviced delivery points and 1,000 collection points, pakkeboks, across the country in 2021 to now offer more than 2,660 locations where customers can collect their packages.
Customers are able to access the lockers through the Posten app on their cellphone, once they have been notified that their parcel has arrived.
The postal service placed 63 in Trondheim, where 72% of its delivery fleet is currently electric. The post is looking to increase this to 100% next year. These vehicles deliver to in-store post offices, staffed delivery locations and Posten Norge’s parcel lockers.
Tone Wille, CEO of Posten Norge, said, “In the last year, we have established 50 new serviced delivery points and put out parcel lockers in 1,000 different places. We now have over 2,660 places where customers can pick up packages in Norway.
“The mail must be easily accessible and there must be flexibility in the way customers can pick up packages. We see that the self-service parcel lockers have become a popular and important supplement to our serviced delivery points in a short time. Experience so far shows that more than half of the packages in the package boxes are picked up by customers already in the first 24 hours.”
