Customers in Germany can now choose to have their packages delivered directly to one of DPD’s 6,000 ParcelShops rather than attempting a home delivery first. Sending a parcel directly to a DPD ParcelShop is the most favorably priced option for customers with prices starting at 3.70 (US$4) for small packages.
Boris Winkelmann, DPD CEO, said, “Many consignees who are not at home during the day are already redirecting their shipments to one of our 6,000 DPD ParcelShops. We therefore want to make this option available to all private and small-scale business shippers at the stage when the order is placed. In addition, delivery to a shop is highly efficient, which means that we can offer this product at very competitive prices.”
Pricing is scaled from small through to extra-large packages, and is paid for online by direct debit or PayPal. The contents of each parcel are automatically insured up to 520 (US$556), and transport for all shipments is fully carbon neutral. Customers will be given an hourly slot of when their packages will arrive.
