UK-based home delivery service Milk & More has ordered 200 electric vehicles from Deutsche Post DHL subsidiary StreetScooter.
Milk & More ordered the Work L Box model with an 8m³ (283ft³) body similar to that used by DHL for postal deliveries in Germany.
The load compartment is also refrigerated to keep the milk and produce chilled. With StreetScooter’s cloud-based charging management system, the electric vehicles can be quickly charged one after the other.
Patrick Müller, managing director of Milk & More, said, “We wanted to make this unique tradition relevant again to the requirements of today’s customers. To do this, we need a local product portfolio, new IT systems as well as reliable, quiet and environmentally friendly vehicles. In the StreetScooter, we have found the ideal vehicle for our needs.”
Jürgen Gerdes, board member for corporate incubations at Deutsche Post DHL Group and the person responsible for StreetScooter, added, “As a leading innovator, we are also helping customers to take innovative paths in their own industry. In this way, we achieve sustainable success together.”
Besides offering its range of about 200 local products, Milk & More produces and delivers more than 100 million pints of milk each year. In total, the company makes more than 1.5 million deliveries to over 500,000 households each week.
