Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s department stores have announced that they will be expanding their same-day delivery service to nine additional US locations for products purchased online or on the mobile sites.
The new sites include: Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Dallas, Texas (Macy’s only); Honolulu, Hawaii; Las Vegas, Nevada (Macy’s only); Miami/Ft Lauderdale, Florida; New York City/Western Long Island, New York; Orange County, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The charge for same-day delivery is a flat US$5 above standard ground shipping fees.
Robert B Harrison, chief omnichannel officer for Macy’s, said, “When we piloted same-day delivery in eight markets initially last autumn, we learned that our customers appreciate the additional option of having their purchase brought to their home or office in a matter of hours. It is an important part of our value proposition as an omnichannel retailer serving customers who shop at our stores and websites whenever, wherever and however they prefer. Our ability to expand same-day delivery is rooted in local merchandise inventories at Macy’s stores, as well as a newly expanded delivery footprint of our partners at Deliv.”
The global retailers originally provided same-day delivery for Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas (Macy’s only); Los Angeles, California; Northern New Jersey; San Francisco and San Francisco Bay Area, California; Seattle, Washington (Macy’s only); and Washington D.C.
