Cross-border delivery platform BorderGuru, a subsidiary of the Hermes Group, has been contracted by Chinese e-tailer Alibaba to provide a full range of logistics services for European e-tailers looking to sell on its TMall Global marketplace.
TMall Global provides Chinese customers with an easy way to purchase Western products, and a convenient place for Western e-tailers to sell into the market. BorderGuru will now work closely with Alibaba’s logistics subsidiary Cainiao to handle the entire logistics cross-border shipping process for European clients, from the initial pick up at the retailer’s warehouse through to the transfer of the package to last-mile carriers in China. TMall Global currently provides Chinese customers with access to approximately 5,400 international brands from a total of 53 countries.
Martin Kreiter, division manager group marketing and e-commerce business development for Hermes, and managing director of BorderGuru, said, “We are really proud to have become Alibaba’s contractual partner and we truly appreciate the trust placed in us.
“With its integrative services, BorderGuru is really optimizing Hermes’ existing portfolio in global e-commerce. The partnership between Alibaba, Cainiao and BorderGuru is now showing that we are on the right path with our e-commerce services and that we are helping satisfy growing demand,”
James Zhao, director of global import at Cainiao, said, “We are delighted to have secured the services of the experienced logistics specialist Hermes with its proven track record in retailing. In conjunction with its strong e-commerce base, BorderGuru for us is a logical partner we can trust with our continued expansion in Europe.”
