DHL Express has invested US$5.3m to double capacity at its center in Nashville, Tennessee, to cater for growing e-commerce demand.
The facility at 1922 Old Murfreesboro Pike, Suite 570, is 18,000ft2 larger than the previous location and is close to Nashville International Airport.
The expansion and equipment maximizes processing capabilities and enables earlier deliveries for international shippers in the Nashville area.
Richard Saavedra, VP and general manager of DHL Express, said, “The larger space has not only allowed us to keep up with the current demand due to the rise in online shopping, but it accommodates 10 years of growth capacity.”
The facility has 42,195ft2 of space, and its double line conveyor belt enables the 50 employees to work more efficiently while doubling sorting capacity.
The center is piloting the re-engineered Master Production Schedule design to minimize warehouse square footage and improve the process flow for x-rays and inspections.
